London-based Perezcious reader, Rich, just wrote to let us know that Lily Allen was on BBC Radio saying some kind things about Britney Spears on Monday:

When asked by Scott Mills in a radio interview just now, "what did you think of britney on the xfactor"

She answered: "i love britney, I don't care if she mimed or not, we all know she's a mimer, and that's a hard song to sing live" and she added "I loved her outfit, she looked really good"…lilly also said that she went to club Heaven in london after the x factor, and saw britney but she said that she could understand why she didn't perform, she said that it was unbelievably hot, and there was people fainting all over the place.

Funny! The Brits call lipsynching 'miming'.

Wintour wore Chanel for the occasion…Several celebrities got into the spirit of giving this Thanksgiving by donating their time to those less fortunate. Gisele Bündchen served warm deserts at the Goodwill Center in Boston, while Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Love Hewitt prepared and served meals with the Los Angeles Mission.

Like 16 year-olds everywhere, Lovetta Conto loves fashion.  However, unlike many a typical teen, her love of fashion flourished in a refugee camp in Ghana, where she and her father had fled the brutal civil war in her native Liberia when she was just four. And now she is helping fellow young survivors with her for benefit accessories business: Akawelle jewelry (as in also known as - aka - wel'le, or love).  Using the spent bullet casings that still liberally sprinkle the streets of Liberia, she melts the top half and molds it into a leaf-shaped pendant, leaving the bottom of the bullet as is. "This part is not melted down. I think it's important to have part of the actual bullet untouched, to remember what it was like before," explains the aspiring fashion designer. "I chose the word LIFE to be inscribed into the leaf to remind myself that new life can begin after hardship. It is even possible for new life to arise from something as terrible as war."

As part of The Strongheart Fellowship, a program for gifted youth in the developing world which focuses on entrepreneurship and activism, the money Lovetta raises through the sale of her jewelry will support other young people displaced by war through child slavery, abduction by rebel armies, orphaned by AIDS, and extreme poverty. A war-ravaged former beach hotel on the Liberian coast is currently being transformed into Strongheart House, an online but off-the-grid green haven designed to be an international center for healing and learning. Six of the young people moving in are from one of the refugee camps in Ghana where Lovetta lived for nine years. "The camp is closing and I want to help give them a beautiful place to live and grow."

Not surprisingly, Lovetta was recently nominated as a finalist in the 2008 International Children's Peace Prize, sponsored by the KidsRights Foundation, to be awarded next week by Desmond Tutu at the Hague.

"Pretty Boy" Buscemi: Steve Buscemi is in talks to star in Martin Scorsese's HBO pilot Boardwalk Empire. Written by Terrence Winter, the pilot is based on a book chronicling the origins of Atlantic City. Buscemi would play Nucky Johnson, a sly twenties businessman who runs a liquor-distribution ring during Prohibition. Kelly Macdonald is in talks to play Margaret, an Irish immigrant who married the wrong guy to get out of her parents' house. But it's the casting of the raspy-voiced, twenties-style-tracksuit-wearing, Atlantic City tourists that we're most looking forward to. [HR]

Scorsese's Falcon: Scorsese is also set to direct a new movie called Falcon's Tale. Scorsese will work alongside Departed screenwriter William Monahan to tell the story of James Keene, a convict serving ten years to life on drug charges when the FBI offers him a chance at freedom. All he has to do is enter a high-security prison for the criminally insane and squeeze information out of a suspected serial killer awaiting retrial. Should be easy! [Production Weekly via /Film]

Molders of Minds: The Fame remake's New York City High School of Performing Arts just picked up a slew of teachers, including Megan Mullally, Kelsey Grammer, Charles S. Dutton, and Bebe Neuwirth. Mullally will play a voice instructor, Grammer an orchestra conductor, Dutton an acting teacher, and Neuwirth a dance teacher. Given his grace on the stage, we were hoping Grammer would play the dance teacher. Alas. [HR]

Rome Reborn: Mentalist director Bruno Heller is in talks to make a movie version of Rome, wrapping up the prematurely canceled HBO drama. The critically acclaimed show was axed before the second season even aired and HBO later admitted that destroying the lavish sets and releasing actors from their contracts was probably a bad idea. If this is anything like the resurrection of other prematurely canceled but critically lauded TV shows, we can expect Rome: The Movie to land in about 2020. [HR]

Men Made of Straw: Production company Benderspink has nabbed the film rights to both The Straw Men, a crime thriller written by author Michael Marshall Smith, and its comic adaptation by Zenescope Comics head Joe Brusha. Story follows a detective brought out of retirement to solve a series of bizarre murders connected by a dark conspiracy. The book is the first in a trilogy, so expect this to be the first of some kind of Bond-on-Geritol franchise. Your grandma is pumped. [Variety]

Hail Caesar: It's a big day for the newest edition of Planet of the Apes, which finally has a director, a writer, and a name. The name is Caesar, the rebellious ape from 1972's Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, and the writer-director is Scott Frank, the writer of such varied screenplays as Minority Report and Marley and Me. Not too much is known about the ape revival other than the fact that the film will do away with time travel in favor of presenting Caesar as a chimp whose mind has advanced due to experimentation. Oh, and there will be no big ape suits. The idea of dressing up chimps in human suits to play the people has not yet been ruled out, though. [Production Weekly via CHUD]

The shoot, we can reveal, was for an imminent issue of Glamour Italia, and the girls - well, you've probably seen them before.

The tall blonde on the left - who just shaved half her head, a la Alice Dellal - is Kay Goldberg, a RISD freshman and crush of Olivier Zham who lives in the West Village. Kay is the goddaughter of Kurt Cobain but her real claim to fame is being the first-ever Look Book subject in New York Magazine - she's also on the cover of their book.

The redhead on the right is Tess Brokaw, a former Fashionista intern who gave us the lowdown on "real life Gossip Girl style" last year and also posed in the most recent Vena Cava show. Faran introduced her to Scott after the Preen show last year, and... well... the rest is history, with a fake ID.
