Something that has never been done was accomplished. Three cities, three stores, in one day. All for what? The release of DJ Clark Kent’s “Black Friday” Nike Air Force 1. Never mind the 1600 miles flown or running across the east coast with no sleep, 300 pairs of kicks sold out between the three cities in a combined time equivalent to 3 Hollywood films.

After the business of selling shoes was through, DJ Clark Kent took control of the 1’s and 2’s and thus control of the party in South Beach to finish off the day 24 hours after it all began.

One shoe, three cities, in one day. It was a movie.

The day started with the release of the Black Friday Air Force Ones at NSW in New York City. A crowd peered into the windows standing on a windy, 34 degree morning hoping to catch a glimpse of the shoes that no one had seen. The doors opened promptly at 4AM where the lucky few were able to get their hands on the shoe that everyone would be talking about for the rest of the day. Ninety-five minutes later, gone. Sold out. No mas. The NSW staff could not possibly run the cash register fast enough to keep up with the demand for the shoes once people entered the store and caught a glimpse of what they were just about to get their hands on.

If you watched even two minutes of her Coming to America special, or have heard her laugh front row, or have seen even one of her Marc ads, you know she's giggling behind those bug-eyed glasses. And you know she had a ball making this video for her new collection of Roland Mouret-inspired dresses.

She, and a couple of younger girls, flit around a very English looking home hiding behind curtains and tables, pulling tights, sweaters and lamp shades over their heads, laying across chairs and spinning on their very high heels all the while wearing the body conscious zippered dress Posh showed in New York this past September. There's nothing stuffy or pretentious or even very high fashion about it, just a few girls playing dress up and running around the house.

I've watched it three times: I want all the dresses and Posh to be my new best friend.

Hillary Rodham Clinton will join President-elect Barack Obama’s national security team as Secretary of State.

Democratic officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Obama will name the New York senator as his Secretary of State at a press conference in Chicago on Monday.

Obama also plans to announce that Defense Secretary Robert Gates will remain in his job for a year or more and that retired Marine General James M. Jones will serve as national security adviser.

Bill Clinton cleared the way for his wife to take the job by agreeing to disclose the names of every contributor to his foundation since its inception in 1997. He’ll also refuse donations from foreign governments to the Clinton Global Initiative, his annual charitable conference, and will cease holding CGI meetings overseas.

Former President Clinton’s business deals and global charitable endeavors were expected to create problems for Hillary’s nomination. But in negotiations with the Obama transition team, the former president agreed to several measures designed to bring transparency to his post-presidential work.

Critics have pointed out that the President-elect’s team doesn’t represent the change he promised on the campaign trail, with all of his top choices having served in either the Clinton or Bush administration.

Ben Light, whom we have blogged about previously, has been making some Christmas ornaments over at NYC Resistor’s laser cutter. He is quoted over at Make’s blog:

“The laser cutter is such a cool tool. To be able to design something and have the final piece in your hands 10 minutes later, it’s like living in the future.”

Ben was taking advantage of NYC Resistor’s classes - every time I look at that site I get an inexplicable urge to live in NYC!

1 1/2 lbs. baking potatoes
Preheat oven to 400.
Prick washed potatoes and bake until a fork pierces to the center easily.
Remove potatoes from oven and allow to fully cool.
Remove skin and cut potatoes into 1/2" cubes.
Set aside.

1/4 lb. Butter
2 C. Yellow onion -- diced
Melt butter in a large saucepan.
Add onions and saute over low heat for 10 minutes or until onions are translucent. Be careful not to let them brown.

1/3 C. flour
Add flour to onions and butter and cook 4 - 5 minutes, mixing well with a whisk until flour is blended into the mixture.

5 C. Water
1/4 C. low sodium chicken base
1 C. Instant potato flakes
3/4 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
In mixing bowl, whisk together the water, chicken base, potato flakes, basil and Tabasco.
Stir or whisk thoroughly to eliminate lumps.
Add slowly to onion mixture, stirring constantly so no lumps form.
Increase to medium heat and continue cooking until the soup begins to gently simmer.

1 C. milk
1 C. heavy cream
Add milk and cream, stirring until the mixture is smooth and lightly thickened.
Reduce the heat and simmer lightly for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in the cubed baked potatoes and allow to simmer until heated through.
Remove from heat and serve.
Top each serving with grated Cheddar cheese, sliced scallions and bacon pieces.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Ordering was simple. After I selected which blanket I wanted, uploaded the image straight from my computer (it was faster than uploading to Photobucket or blogger) and was done. I included a note because my image was one I had doctored by running an autofix. My note mentioned to please contact me if it appeared blurry. Clearly, I didn't want a blurry image on Grammy's blanket! As it turned out, the image was too small. Not only did I receive an e-mail alerting me to this, but Jim called me to discuss. The customer service was fantastic. Once I obtained a better image, I sent it to him, then called to let him know. Within minutes he let me know that this image would work. LOVE great customer service, especially this time of year.

Grammy lives in central Pennsylvania, so it was very logical to order a heavier, woven blanket for her. There were two other blanket options: knitted or fleece. I haven't seen the knitted, but the sample I received of the fleece is a very soft, thin fleece, a lighter weight than the woven, and perfect for warmer climates. I can imagine using it as a picnic blanket, or keeping warm during a nighttime football game. The woven blanket is made from 100% cotton wool (over 4 miles of it!) and has fringe surrounding it. Its not silkscreened, its actually woven into the blanket. (That's one of those "I have no idea how they do that things.")

On cloud nine after a wondrous night out on the town, Sienna Miller was spotted shopping at Raoul’s Deli shop in Madia Vale on what was a grey and cold Friday in London (November 28).

According to a source on the scene, Sienna spent about 15 minutes buying vegetables, fruits and other items before returning back home to stock up the refrigerator.
