Abercrombie & Fitch: NYC Tourist Attraction
The Statue of Liberty. Times Square. The Empire State Building. Abercrombie & Fitch? As a resident of New York, you learn very quickly to avoid the tourist attractions that become mundane upon seeing them once. Foreign tourists wait in line for hours, bearing the elements with cameras and binoculars, to see the same shit we see every day. What’s even stranger is these same tourists wait in line to purchase items from a brand that most fashionable Americans can’t stand. Every morning, the line outside of the Fifth Avenue Abercrombie & Fitch exceeds 200 people waiting to be let loose among rows of identical-looking denim and hooded sweatshirts. A recent survey discovered there were visitors from Ireland, England, Brazil, Spain and Russia. The reason? One was cheaper prices. Now that I recall the blur that was this past summer, my English roommate and his visiting sister practically planned their day around an Abercrombie shopping spree. A word to visitors of our fair city- there are many superior places to shop in this mecca of young American designers. But chances are if you’re reading this blog, you’re already aware.

Blast from the Past: Victoria and David Beckham on Ali G
To celebrate the launch of Victoria Beckham’s Dress Collection we dug through the archives for this video of Britian’s Sweathearts before their move across the pond.
Their body language screams “Please, don’t reach over and touch us.”
Love it…

Designer Discovery: Piotr Rybaczek
With one of a kind pieces, it’s no surprise that Piotr Rybaczek is emerging in the spotlight. Mending jewelry with distinctive details, Piotr never ceases to bring an entirely different look to the table. It is clear that within several of the pieces, Piotr uses floral components to give each work a touch of elegance. Though no two pieces are identical, a strong sense of continuity is kept throughout all of the designs. Earrings, necklaces, and bracelets come in a variety of bold colors including gold hues that stand out alongside simplistic shades of black. The design on each piece is very precise as all of the elements come together in a cohesive whole. Walking down the street in just any outfit may turn a few heads, but with a Piotr Rybaczek piece around your neck it won’t even be a question.

Fashion Quotable: Zooey Deschanel Disses on It Girls
“I’ve heard so many people say, so many times: ‘You’re this year’s It Girl!’ And I’m like, ‘You said that to me in 2001 and 2004.” - Zooey Deschanel Nylon Magazine’s It Girl of the Year on the stupidity (and redundancy) of the “It Girl” title.
Thanks to Complex for the quote.

Olsens to Expand Empire?
Ashley Olsen was reportedly spotted in LA Wednesday scouting out retail spaces near Maxfield’s.
Unflattering outfit and unsubstantiated rumors aside, I am starving for more information to back up these claims. So, no word on whether it’d be a boutique for The Row, Elizabeth and James, or something else.

What In The Bloody Hell…

Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley- Like two peas in a pod...a terribly unfortunate dress pod.

Eva Green- Did you used to be a Frockette?

Anna Friel- Your stylist forgot to tell you that her pit bull accidentally threw up the garbage he ate all over your evening gown. Oops!

Eva Birthistl- I would really appreciate it if you would give me my Christmas tree skirt back. Thanks.
Is this some kind of practical joke? Last night’s British Independent Film Awards had a red carpet full of unfortunately dressed celebrities…the ones who typically look the best everywhere else! Sorry ladies, the Boston Tea Party happened in 1773…if you’re seeking your revenge for those high taxes back in the day, this is certainly not the way to do it.
Thanks Jezebel!
