The spotlight is shining on Scott Bentley! He is the owner and artistic director of Bentley Salon in Tampa, Florida. Scott opened the salon in March of 2007 and the growth and success has been incredible. Scott is extremely creative and inspirational. Here is a snapshot of his fabulous life and how he's developed Bentley Salon.

How did you end up working in the hair and fashion industry?
I was working at a nite club as a barback, driving for an escort service and getting in too many fights. I wasn't sure what to do but I have always wanted to work with my hands and be creative. So I went to cosmetology school and found a hidden passion.

Besides being a Hairstylist and now owning your own salon, what are your ideas for spreading the Bentley love and educating current/future stylists?
Well, we really want to be able to contribute to the growth of the industry. We hold classes in the salon that are all about education, motivation and sharing ideas. As a salon team, we really are reaching out to other stylists as this motivates us as well. In April, we have an event unlike anything the Tampa area has seen. Keep checking our myspace site for more information over the next 3 weeks. For now, all I can say is it will be a day featuring many great hairstylists, education, motivation, inspiration and some great music. We really are excited. It's all about Always Moving Forward..hint hint

What are your other current projects?
One of our focuses are photoshoots to teach total concept. We hold model nights every Tuesday in the salon for staff. I'm going to North Carolina on March 2nd to help host a charity drive by Dream In Colour (see our top friends list for more information) to raise $85,000 for a stylist who lost their home in Hurricane Katrina.

Bentley Salon has been a tremendous success so far. What was key to this success?
Facing any and all fears. Having balance in life and helping each other out at all times. We are developing into a team of leaders that are not afraid to follow each other.

Who or What inspires you?
I would be a liar if I said I don't look within for inspiration. If you can't rely upon yourself, then who can you? My parents and my wife Erin. She is my calm and support. She takes part in my passion but never makes it hers. The Bentley Salon Team!!!!!!! Of course, these people are always there to listen and make suggestions. Just watching them work is an awesome thing. Make up, cut, extensions and color. They seem to make it effortless.

What’s your fashion staple? Describe your style?
HAHAHA. Well, I tend to wear jeans and t- shirts with sneakers. It really depends on the mood and situation. Let's leave it at Diesel jeans are the only ones to fit. I love jewlery and hats. My shirts need to be above belt and lean. Comfort is key. I do own more than a handful of suits though. Dressed down with some hightops or vans and we're good!
